Hundreds showed up and sampled a variety of the chili's from more than two dozen booths. Among the many groups to compete in the Chili Cookoff were the Gardena Valley Lions, with President Victor Escobar and Chuck Kesterson performing some of the customer service duties.

Not to be outsmoked, dragsters and many dozens of classic cars competed with the chili for attention. Making his rounds was the legendary Ed Iskenderian, one of the sponsors of this year's event.
